The Watch

H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Center Seconds Rotating Bezel C.02 for Collective

The product of a year’s worth of partnership, the C.02 represents the missing link between H. Moser’s two sports watch lines – the Pioneer and the Streamliner. Designed to be a daily wear, the C.02 is built around the Pioneer case and is powered by H. Moser’s in-house HMC200 calibre. The case has been modified to fit a bi-directional, 60 click, 12 hour bezel to allow for tracking two time zones and a box crystal has been fitted to the case to ensure a shorter height. The dial – a degradé green griffé dial borrowed the color from the Pioneer line and the dial treatment from the Streamliner line; the effect of “Collective Green” is difficult to describe. In direct sunlight, the green dial shines bright; in lower lighting it fades into a dark olive. The indices on the dial are based on the Pioneer dial but cut from three-dimensional Globolight luminous material. The handset continues the trend of three dimensionality, with Globolight inserts fitted perpendicularly to the hands. The watch will ship on a kudu leather strap and will include a H. Moser bracelet as a gift to members at no additional cost.

The Jacket

Simmons Bilt Pilot’s Jacket by Standard & Strange for Collective

When we started Collective, there was always an idea that it might be fun to occasionally create something outside of the watch world for our members. We don’t think this will be a common occurrence, but everything lined up so well here that it seemed like a missed opportunity for us not to make this happen.

This year has made us yearn to get out into the world… or just go anywhere. And everyone’s basic kit should include a companion for the cooler weather – the perfect leather jacket. When we first started thinking about jackets for ourselves, well before Collective ever existed, it was surprisingly difficult to find a jacket that wasn’t either a motorcycle jacket, heavily stylized or cut for maximum, well, tightness. So, in partnership with our friend Neil Berrett, co-owner of Standard & Strange in Oakland, California, we set out to make C.02 Jacket – the one leather jacket that you can reach for whether you’re making a milk run, walking the dog, carrying your kids, or boarding a flight (someday soon, hopefully).

This jacket is made exclusively for us by Simmons Bilt, a manufacturer that – just like Collective – got its start in Oakland but now operates out of Scotland. Every jacket is made by hand by one of the few Scottish machinists and from premium horsehide – similar to the A-2 style jackets issued by the US Air Force that this piece is based on.

We made some adjustments to make these a bit more wearable. The proportions are more accommodating, so you can always be sure to zip the jacket up. It also features venting in the sleeves to allow for maximum mobility, storm cuffs to keep the webbing from getting wet in the rain and lined side-entry pockets to keep your hands warm on cool days.

The jacket is made of a brown vegetable tanned horsehide from Germany that will wear in beautifully, but is soft and supple enough to begin wearing immediately with no break-in period. The lining is a sturdy black cotton gabardine fabric that is our favorite of Standard and Strange due to how durable it is. A top-spec made in Japan YKK zipper and a wind flap keeps the jacket sealed against any unfavorable intrusions.

And best of all, you can order a standard size or have it adjusted to your measurements at no additional cost.

Jackets are made to order. Upon purchase, Standard & Strange will contact you to discuss sizing. For more information on Simmons Bilt measurements, click here.

The C.02 Jacket is available exclusively to Collective members and is priced at $1300 USD with a 14-week production timeline.
