First Look at the J.N. Shapiro Infinity Series Pure (2025)

A Refined Return to the Shapiro's Roots
Josh Shapiro has always worn his ethos on the dial. From the earliest Infinity Series to the recent Resurgence, his work has been a study in classical watchmaking with an American point of view—and a particular emphasis on handcraft. Now, with the launch of the new Infinity Series Pure, Shapiro revisits his foundational ideas with a more refined execution and a more accessible entry point.
A Familiar Idea, Thoughtfully Reworked
The original Infinity Series helped put Shapiro on the map thanks to its distinctive engine-turned dials and hand-finished details. But since then, the Los Angeles-based watchmaker has raised the bar, particularly with the fully American-made Resurgence—a technically ambitious watch with a price to match. The Infinity Series Pure serves a different purpose. It’s a distillation of Shapiro’s core design language and craftsmanship, now delivered with updated proportions, a new movement, and finer finishing throughout.

At its core, this is a guilloché watch—true to form. The dials, made in-house using traditional engine turning machines, feature two of Shapiro’s signature patterns. On the outer dial: a basket weave. On the subdial: the “Infinity Weave”—a nested, recursive variation that’s become Shapiro’s calling card. The Infinity Weave is one of the most technically challenging guilloché patterns in all of watchmaking, and it’s the inspiration for the collection’s name.
A New Case, and a New Wearing Experience
One of the most noticeable differences between the Infinity Series Pure and earlier Shapiro watches is the case. For the first time, Shapiro has designed a stainless steel case that is both more compact and more wearable.
- Diameter: 37mm
- Height: 8mm (Shapiro’s thinnest case to date)
- Lug-to-lug: 45.2mm
- Lug width: 19mm
On wrist—particularly on smaller wrists—the new dimensions deliver a different experience from previous versions. The Pure wears light, sits low, and lets the dial do the talking. The thinner profile is a subtle but welcome refinement, one that makes the watch feel that much more intentional.
Wrist Size: 6.5in / 16.5cm
The caseback also receives meaningful updates. The earlier Infinity Series models were functional in this regard. With the Pure, Shapiro has added guilloché and hand engraving to the rear of the case, bringing his decorative work full circle—literally. It’s a small detail, but one that emphasizes how fully handmade these watches are.
Behind the Case and Dial: A Manual-Wind Workhorse
Powering the Infinity Series Pure is the La Joux-Perret F200, a manual-winding movement with a 90-hour power reserve and a 4Hz beat rate. It’s a Swiss movement, cleanly finished and well-suited to this form factor. Unlike the in-house movement in the Resurgence, the F200 allows Shapiro to maintain a more accessible price while still delivering the tactile experience of winding and wearing a mechanical watch.
Two Dials, Eighteen Each
The Infinity Series Pure is offered in two dial variations:
- Blackened zirconium dial with white gold hands
- Frosted silver dial with rose gold hands
Both feature the same guilloché work and layout, with the only difference being the dial and hand materials. Each configuration is limited to just 18 pieces, making this a tightly constrained run aimed at collectors and enthusiasts who value handcraft over hype.
Final Thoughts & Availability
With the Infinity Series Pure, J.N. Shapiro has done something rare: revisited an early success without simply repeating it. The updates are thoughtful, the erognomics are more refined, and the finishing is as ever meticulous.
