Bristol's First High Complication

The Brunswick 39 Perpetual Calendar is the first high complication Fears has made in the company's 180-year history, and it arrives not as a limited edition but as a permanent member of the core collection — a decision that tells you most of what you need to know about it. Nicholas Bowman-Scargill and Senior Design Manager Lee Yuen-Rapati worked with Dubois Dépraz on an exclusive calibre, the 55115, pairing a modified perpetual calendar module with a hand-finished Sellita SW300 and a solid 18ct gold rotor bearing the Bristol Flower. The result reads day, date, month, leap year and moon phase with no correction required until 2100, yet keeps the cushion-shaped case to just 9.4mm — slimmer than any Brunswick before it, with wide polished bevels and correctors integrated flush into the brushed case band. Running seconds were left off deliberately. The frosted 'Silver Mink' dial carries bespoke curved 'Bristol' numerals drawn to follow the sub-dial arcs, so a dial with a great deal to say never raises its voice. It is a perpetual calendar you can wear on a Tuesday.
