Breakthrough Independent Watchmaking

Renaud Tixier is a new independent brand founded by Dominique Renaud—co-founder of the legendary complications specialist Renaud & Papi—and rising independent watchmaker Julien Tixier. Their goal is ambitious: to revisit and rethink seven foundational principles of mechanical watchmaking, one watch at a time. With decades of innovation behind them and a deep respect for traditional craft, the two bring a rare mix of experience and fresh perspective to the work.

The Monday is built around a patented innovation: a micro-rotor system called the “Dancer.” Instead of relying on a traditional oscillating weight, the Dancer uses a central platinum inertia wheel that improves winding efficiency and reduces mechanical resistance. It’s a rethinking of one of watchmaking’s most familiar components—engineered from scratch by Renaud and Tixier.

That movement, the in-house caliber RTVI 2023, beats at 2.5Hz, delivers a 60-hour power reserve, and is finished to an exceptional standard. Hand-polished bevels, black-polished titanium components, and a hand-enameled mainspring barrel by Coralie Mercier are just some of the details visible through the open caseback—and through the dial aperture at 9 o’clock.

The watch itself is quietly elegant. The gold case measures 40.8mm across and under 11mm thick, with dual sapphire crystals and a clean, modern dial featuring applied indices, a small seconds at 4, and minimal text. Limited to 60 pieces in total, the Monday is the first in a planned series of seven watches reimagining core mechanical principles. Price starts at CHF 79,000.
