Kinetic Art, Not a Complication

Daniel Engelberg builds sculptures on a trick: concentric rings of color that appear to shift and move even though the piece itself is completely static — the motion is an illusion, done with paint. Put that on a Ressence and the trick stops being a trick. The ROCS discs genuinely rotate, once an hour, so Engelberg's optical illusion becomes actual motion instead of a simulation of it. This isn't a dial decorated with art. It's a piece of his art that happens to also tell time.
