First Complication, and Design Language Come of Age

The Radiant is the first complicated watch J.N. Shapiro has put into production — a monopusher chronograph — but the bigger story is what it signals about where Josh Shapiro's work is headed. His earlier pieces wore their influences openly: Breguet, Daniels, Roth. The Radiant is where those references give way to something proprietary. Tantalum, zirconium, meteorite, heat treatment, and engine turning stop reading as individual flourishes and start working as a single vocabulary — one drawn, fittingly, from the aerospace industry that surrounds his Los Angeles (Torrance, California) workshop. The name nods to both light and radiation, the two properties these space-age metals are prized for. It's a maturing of everything that has defined the Infinity Series, and the result simply looks killer on the wrist.

    Limited edition of 75 pieces.

    Key Details

    • J.N. Shapiro's first complicated production watch: a classical monopusher chronograph with 30-minute counter
    • Powered by the La Joux-Perret 5000-4 — a caliber originally developed by F.P. Journe for Cartier, and used by only a handful of brands today
    • 38mm tantalum case, slim at 9.6mm, 43.9mm lug-to-lug, on alligator with an optional AHA tantalum bracelet
    • Two dial executions: etched Gibeon meteorite, or basketweave-guilloché heat-blued zirconium
    • Signature Infinity Weave guilloché totalizer and sculpted, three-dimensional hands carried over as core design codes
    • Heat-blued zirconium chapter ring with color formed by heat alone — no paint, no plating
    • Numerals and indices engraved after heat treatment, an unforgiving process with no margin to correct
    • Aerospace-inspired throughout, with materials borrowed from the industry next door — SpaceX, Boeing, Northrop, JPL all nearby
    • Limited first run of 75 pieces
