A Return to Our Roots

Back in 2019, Collective was born with the launch of our first collaboration: The Zenith El Primero C.01 – a watch that brought the minimalist aesthetics of Silicon Valley product design to a legendary chronograph.

A Tribute to Mid-century Industrial Design

For our tenth collaboration, we returned to our friends at Zenith, and continued to explore design together. In particular, we looked farther back in time to the very movement that inspired today’s technology designers: Mid-century industrial design.

Of course, that school of design is contemporaneous to the Zenith DEFY itself, which was introduced in 1969. And as with the DEFY, it’s likewise proven seminal and enduring.

The Watch

That creative process yielded the DEFY Skyline C.X, rendered in a stainless steel case and bracelet, along with a matching faded orange rubber strap. It also includes a matte silver dial with no date.

The watch is powered by a time-only El Primero movement with a tenth of a second indicator at six o’clock – its orange 10, a subtle nod to our tenth collaboration.
